The 18-year-old high school senior involved in the fatal stabbing of Jose Luis Ramirez Jr. on Tuesday has been formally charged with murder.
Caysen Tyler Allison was booked into Bell County Jail at 2:02 p.m. on Tuesday. Charges had been pending as investigators and prosecutors worked the case together.
Allison was arrested off campus on Tuesday about 20 minutes after the incident occurred in a bathroom at Belton High School.
"The assistance we received from Belton ISD and the Temple Police Department was instrumental to achieving this outcome," Deputy Chief Larry Berg said. "We appreciate them very much."

Police Confirm Stabbing Victim has Died

The victim from the stabbing this morning at Belton High School has died. Jose Luis Ramirez Jr., 18, was a senior at the high school. He was stabbed during a fight in a campus bathroom.
"I am so sorry to have to provide this update," Police Chief Gene Ellis said. "My prayers are with the family and the entire Belton High School community."

"I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident at Belton High School today and send my prayers to all of those who have been impacted by it, particularly to the young victim and his family.  
"On behalf of all Beltonians, I want all students, faculty, and staff at Belton High School and Belton ISD to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers.  
"I have full confidence in the leadership at Belton High School and Belton ISD, who worked tirelessly with the Belton Police Department to ensure others on campus were safe and that students and staff could exit the school in an orderly fashion.

Additional Information Released About Stabbing Incident

The Belton Police Department has released additional information related to the stabbing this morning at Belton High School. A senior at the school Caysen Tyler Allison, 18, of Temple, is in Bell County Jail awaiting formal charges in the incident.
The name of the victim has not been released, but he is an 18-year-old senior at the school and is being treated at Scott & White Medical Center.
The incident occurred in a boys bathroom at the school.
Students and teachers on campus were released early following a period of lock down.

Male Student in Custody following Stabbing Incident

A male student is in police custody and another male student was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center following a stabbing this morning at Belton High School.
At around 9:47 a.m., Belton police responded to a call about the stabbing. The school was placed on lock down at that time.
After the stabbing, the person of interest ran out of the school and left the area. Police located him and took him into custody at around 10:09 a.m.
Students and staff are safe and secure. Belton High School began releasing students classroom by classroom before noon. A reunification center for students and parents has been set up at Tiger Stadium.
The Temple Police Department assisted at the scene.
