TxDOT Announces Overnight Belton Area Road Closures on I-14

This week two roads that pass under I-14 in the Belton area will temporarily close to allow work crews to set beams, which are necessary to add an additional lane to each of the bridges, according to a TxDOT news release.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, the portion of Simmons Road under the I-14 bridge will close to allow the beams to be safely set in place. In addition, the inside lane of westbound I-14 will close during the construction. The road and lane should reopen before 8 a.m. on Wednesday, weather permitting.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, the portion of George Wilson Road under the I-14 bridge will close. The inside lane of westbound I-14 will also close during this operation in which workers will set beams for the eastbound/westbound George Wilson Road overpass. The road and lane should both reopen before 8 a.m. on Thursday, weather permitting.
This work is part of the expansion of I-14 from four to six lanes from Harker Heights to Belton. Please drive safely and slow down in construction areas.
