Two Belton Businesses Finalists for State Awards

Two local businesses, Bold Republic and Cochran, Blair & Potts, are finalists for statewide awards from the Texas Downtown Association.

Bold Republic is one of three finalists for Best Downtown Business (under 50k population), and Cochran, Blair & Potts is one of six finalists for Best Renovation/Rehabilitation/Restoration (under 50k population).

The Texas Downtown Association hosts an annual President’s Award contest. This year Texas municipalities competed in 18 different categories. Judges selected the finalists from a total of 119 entries.

Belton’s two entries were submitted by Judy Garrett, City of Belton Tourism and Retail Development Manager.

The winners for each category will be announced on Oct. 30 at the Texas Downtown Conference in Georgetown. In 2015, the City of Belton won a President’s Award for Best Public Improvement for the Nolan Creek Project, which added limestone to the creek area behind The Gin. The blocks serve a dual purpose of flood mitigation and recreation.
