Belton City Councilmember Dan Kirkley has filed for a place on the 2019 Belton City Council ballot. Councilmember David K. Leigh also recently filed. The filing period is open until 5 p.m. on February 15.
Potential candidates must file during the filing period to be eligible to run for office.
A candidate packet, which includes filing information, is available online for residents interesting in serving on the Belton City Council. Councilmembers are elected to two-year terms. They meet twice a month in regularly scheduled evening meetings, and each councilmember receives $1 annually for his or her service.
Terms for the following councilmembers are set to expire in May:
- Mayor Pro Tem Craig Pearson
- Councilmember David K. Leigh
- Councilmember Dan Kirkley
- Councilmember John Holmes
