Councilmember Files for Re-election; Four Terms Expiring

Belton City Councilmember David K. Leigh was the first person to file for a place on the 2019 Belton City Council ballot. The filing period is open until 5 p.m. on February 15. 
Potential candidates must file during the filing period to be eligible to run for office.

candidate packet, which includes filing information, is available online for residents interesting in serving on the Belton City Council. 
Councilmembers are elected to two-year terms. They meet twice a month in regularly scheduled evening meetings, and each councilmember receives $1 annually for his or her service.

Terms for the following councilmembers are set to expire in May:

  • Mayor Pro Tem Craig Pearson 
  • Councilmember David K. Leigh
  • Councilmember Dan Kirkley
  • Councilmember John Holmes
