Connell Street to Temporarily Close for Construction

A drainage improvement project that crosses Connell Street will necessitate a temporary closure on S. Connell at Mitchell Branch Creek beginning on Feb. 1. The closure is expected to last through the duration of the project, which is scheduled to be completed in June.

The Mitchell Branch Creek crossing is located between 2081 S. Connell Street and 2290 S. Connell Street. Properties north and south of the construction site will be accessible from the north and south, respectively, but South Connell will be completely closed between 2081 and 2290 S. Connell. Detour signs will be in place for the duration of construction and traffic will be diverted to Loop 121 and the I-35 Service Road.

The closure is necessary to replace the box culverts and widen the roadway to improve the drainage in the area. The contractor for this project is Barsh Construction.
