Lunch hour in Downtown Interrupted by Bomb Threat

IMG_1681aA bomb threat on Friday caused a major inconvenience for lunch patrons and employees at businesses adjacent to the courtyard of The Gin restaurant in downtown Belton.

An employee of The Gin received the threatening call on the main restaurant line. The Belton Police Department was notified of the threat at 12:22 p.m., and officers responded to the area and helped evacuate people from nearby businesses and established a perimeter from Nolan Creek to Water Street.

The Killeen Police Department assisted on the call, bringing to the scene a dog trained in detecting explosives. No explosives were found, and the scene was cleared at 1:49 p.m.
