Shady Lane Fire Displaces People from Multiple Units

FullSizeRenderPeople living in four units of an apartment complex are displaced following an early morning fire today in the 1100 block of Shady Lane.

The fire was contained to a ground floor unit, but three attached units suffered smoke damage. No serious injuries were reported, although one person was transported to the hospital with a lower leg injury.

Belton firefighters received an emergency call about the fire around 5 a.m. A tenant lowered a child out of a bedroom window before being injured while climbing out the same window. The fire was in a main living area of the unit. A fire inspector determined that the fire was caused by an electrical issue.
