The Bell County seat, Belton has a rich cultural history.  Lena Armstrong, a former librarian here for 54 years, was an unofficial Belton historian, who authored a history that is included in the two-volume edition of The Story of Bell County, which as published in 1998 by the Bell County Historical Commission.  A synopsis of Lena Armstrong's Belton history is available online. 

The Bell County Museum is a great historical resource. The museum changes its exhibits several times a year, so there is always something new to learn there. It is located on Main Street in a Carnegie library building that is a former Belton Public Library.
