TxDOT to Participate in Public Forum About SH 317 Construction on Thursday

Belton residents who commute on SH 317 have an opportunity to receive a project update from TxDOT on Thursday, Jan. 26. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at Joe M. Pirtle Elementary School Cafeteria, 714 Pea Ridge, in Temple.

The update will include information about the widening of SH 317 from two lanes to four lanes, with a raised median, from FM 2305 (W. Adams Ave.) to FM 439 in Belton. In addition, nine miles of the existing roadway will be widened from the Moody southern city limits to SH 36, west of Temple.

Plans include adding intermittent passing lanes, north of Temple, and a new two-lane southbound bridge to be constructed at the Leon River in Belton, creating a four-lane crossing.

The update is at the request of the City of Temple.
