EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS REMINDER: Turn Around Don't Drown

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS REMINDER: Turn Around Don't Drown
September 25, 2018
It is never safe to walk or drive into flood waters.  The best approach when faced with a flooding hazard is to follow the National Weather Service slogan to Turn Around Don't Drown.

Never underestimate the force and power of water. Prevent drowning. Refuse to walk or drive into flowing water. It can sweep away a person or car downstream.

Don't drive around barriers that warn a road is flooded. In some cases just a foot of rushing water can carry away a small car. Two feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles, and an adult could be knocked over by as few as 6 inches of fast-moving flood water.

Again, it is NEVER safe to drive or walk into flood waters.

Remember and put to good use the phrase Turn Around Don't Drown. If may save your life.
