Belton's Youth Advisory Commission (YAC) and the Parks and Recreation Department deliver an event to the community of caring, sharing, and giving back. One Community One Day is a hands-on assistance project for those needing a little TLC around the home. Some citizens in our community do not have the support system to assist with tasks such yard work, minor painting and repairs.
The event offers a chance for those wishing to give back an opportunity to divide into groups and lend a hand at a house selected for assistance. Citizens are given the opportunity to apply for assistance through information provided at the Harris Community Center, on the city's website and distributed each January through the water billing. Each application is reviewed knowing that there are some limitation on repairs offered. Around 10 to 15 homes are selected each year.
