Parks Master Plan


The City of Belton has a number of recreational programs that take place at the Harris Community Center, 401 N. Alexander St. These programs provide a broad range of quality recreational programs for citizens of Belton and surrounding communities.
The Parks and Recreation Department is always looking to provide new recreational programs to the community. If you have the ability to teach a recreational class or have a suggestion one, please lets us know by calling (254) 933-5861 or by E-mail.

Bricks 4 Kidz

B4KBricks 4 Kidz is described as a way to develop a child's potential by encouraging curiosity and creativity. Children learn and grow with fun filled model plans that are designed by engineers and architects and provide an engaging platform that reinforces S.T.E.M. based principles and learning with Lego(R) bricks. The program is also described as a way to enhance self esteem, improve fine-motor skills, and teach important classroom lessons such as organization and following directions. Classes are at the Harris Community Center, 401 N. Garden photoCommunity Garden

In partnership with Leadership Belton and the Belton Chamber of Commerce, the City of Belton has opened a Community Garden located in Heritage Park, 100 Park 
Avenue. The Garden has 39 plots, each 4 ft. X 8 ft. Plots are available to residents of Belton upon request. Membership requests require applicants to show proof of residency within Belton city limits. There are no fees associated with being granted a plot, however, members are required to adhere to Garden Rules, and commit to participating in a Spring and Fall cleanup each year. To request plots at the Community Garden visit the Belton Parks and Recreation Office, 401 N. Alexander St.

Suzanne is a native Texan originally from Houston. She began her yoga practice while living in Forth Worth, and trying other forms of "exercise". Yoga was always what she came back to. 
Suzanne works with students on proper alignment and breathing. She enjoys Vinyasa and knows that one day she will master Adho Mukha Vrksasana! Her love of music sets the tone for her classes and you will be motivated to challenge yourself. Suzanne received her 200 RYT from Wanderlust Studio in Austin and she is a graduate of the University of Houston -Downtown and holds an MLA from Texas Christian University. She is married and has one daughter whom she calls her best friend. Suzanne knows her strength and ability comes from God and she knows that life is too short to spend with people who suck the happiness from you. You can follow her on instagram @jrocyoga

Mixed Level Flow - All levels are welcomed to this class. This class combines strength and power while synchronizing the movement and the breath. The class is designed to build heat and stimulate the nervous system. Modifications are always given and options are given to challenge the advanced student.
Yoga Basics - No yoga experience necessary, This class will introduce the student  to the practice with the foundations of yoga, sun salutations, postures and breathing exercises. The class will end with a short meditation and relaxation.

Youth Advisory Commission (Y.A.C.)

The City of Belton Youth Advisory Commission is an official commission of high school students residing in the Belton Independent School District. The goal of YAC is to develop youth leaders committed to learning about local government and the roles they can have in it, making a difference in our community and the lives of youth. Y.A.C. members coordinate and run our annual One Community One Day event, a service day where community members assist those in the community who need assistance with yard work or other projects.
