People living in four units of an apartment complex are displaced following an early morning fire today in the 1100 block of Shady Lane.
The fire was contained to a ground floor unit, but three attached units suffered smoke damage. No serious injuries were reported, although one person was transported to the hospital with a lower leg injury.
Belton firefighters received an emergency call about the fire around 5 a.m. A tenant lowered a child out of a bedroom window before being injured while climbing out the same window. The fire was in a main living area of the unit. A fire inspector determined that the fire was caused by an electrical issue.
