Over the next few days, Belton firefighters will visit businesses and homes located within the 100-year Nolan Creek floodplain to update the City's emergency notification database. Residents and business that have not registered with CodeRED, the City's emergency management system, will be invited to do so. Registration is voluntary and includes name, address, and phone number. In the future, if a flooding event is imminent along Nolan Creek, registered residents and businesses within the floodplain would be among the first to be notified.
Firefighters will go door-to-door between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. They will be driving a fire department vehicle and be in uniform. If a resident is not home, firefighters will leave a notice at the door asking the resident to submit registration information.
CodeRed allows the City to contact specific geographical regions by automated call or text in an emergency situation.
