A review of the Belton Police Department is under way today to reaffirm that 166 best practices are being administered. The review is part of the re-recognition process of the Texas Police Chiefs Association Law Enforcement Recognition Program.
Three representatives from the Texas Police Chiefs Association are reviewing all facets of the Belton Police Department to assess compliance with best practices.
Monty Stanley, standards compliance manager, said the program verifies that processes are in place to protect human rights and facilitate efficient and effective delivery of police services.
"We don't tell organizations how to write a policy," Stanley said. "We just make sure policies are in place."
The Belton Police Department became the first recognized agency in Bell County in January 2011. Recognized agencies are required to become re-recognized every five years.
