Beginning on Friday, August 15, and continuing through September 2, the Belton Police Department will join law enforcement agencies throughout Texas in a campaign against drunk driving called “Labor Day Impaired Driving Mobilization Program.”
Although incidences of driving while intoxicated tend to increase around holidays, the Belton Police Department always takes seriously the dangers of impaired driving. The goal of this particular campaign is to reinforce the consequences of driving while intoxicated and prevent fatality accidents.
In 2013, more than 1,000 people in Texas were killed in crashes that involved a driver or motorcycle rider who had a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit. Other negative consequences of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) include attorney fees, court costs, jail time, increased insurance rates, and possible job loss.
