Belton police arrested Steven Hardy, 22, on Wednesday and charged him with burglary of a habitation, a felony, and 10 misdemeanor charges of burglary of motor vehicle.
The charges are related to burglaries in neighborhoods off Lake Road that occurred on Jan. 4-5. Following the break-ins, Belton Police issued neighborhood email alerts notifying residents of the intrusions in the area, and reminding them to lock car doors. Police said that unlocked cars were targeted.
At this point, the criminal charges against Mr. Hardy are an accusation. He is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law. He is in Bell County Jail with $72,500 in bonds related to the Belton charges.
