The Belton City Council recognized Medic Marty Tippit for saving the life of a toddler on Nov. 13, 2013. Belton Fire Chief Francisco Corona told the Council that Tippit and another Belton firefighter responded to an emergency call that described the toddler as having an "airway obstruction."
Upon arrival, the firefighter/medics found the child in distress, with shallow breathing. When blows to the back of the toddler did not dislodge the item, Tippit used an instrument to remove a baby wipe from deep inside the child's throat. Once the wipe was removed the child's condition began to improve.
